This stunning vase has a sleekly curved clean-lined form and impressive colouration which perfectly displays the unique veined surface treatment perfected by Bertil Vallien. Exquisite speckles of of purple glass add a fabulous colour and subtle texture to the bulbous body, while the elegant bubble neck and flared rim are coloured with appealing streaks of vibrant cobalt blue. The colour is applied as frits of glass to the initial gather, and are worked into the surface of the glass as the piece is blown into shape. The coloured frits form wonderfully random patterns which beautifully following the sleek contour of the form whilst adding an appealing subtle texture. This technique, mastered by Vallien, ensures each piece in the series in totally unique. This piece looks divine with light passing through the form illuminating the exquisite colour and casting vibrant reflections!
