Today I have for your consideration a magnificent and colorful pair of studio art glass. These sculptures are hand blown by renowned glass artist Dan Bergsma. As an artist Dan was always drawn to the interplay of different colors, forms, and optical qualities inherent in glass. Dan was lauded for his brilliantly colored glass, these rainbow vases in particular. These vases have beautiful rainbow shades of red, pink blue, purple, yellow, orange, and green that all blend into each other making a rainbow blend. These free form abstract pieces have a swirl design giving it a very art deco contemporary look. This signed on the bottom. These are very heavy and large. The larger one measures 12.5″ tall, 11.5″ wide, and 3 wide width. The smaller one is 11″ tall, 11″ wide and 2 wide width. It is very rare to find a pair. Dan began his glass studies in 1984 at the renowned Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, WA as well as at the Pratt Fine Arts Center. Dan was born in 1951 and’s has since passed in 2018. He studied with internationally known artists such as Richard Marquis, Michael Glancy and Lino Tagliapietra.
