Murano Venini Tapio Wirkkala Green Charger Signed Dated with Original Label 1986

This Murano made Venini no. 511.40 charger with an abstract center decoration was designed by the multi talented Finnish design genius, Tapio Wirkkala (1915 – 1985). The abstract center design is done in gray, amethyst, red, and black in crystal. This item was made using the 16th century incalmo technique wherein the outer area and center design elements were “welded” together. The very difficult old technique was revived on Murano by the Finnish designer after he went to work with Venini in 1965. The item measures 15-1/2″ (39.4 cm) in diameter and is 1-1/2″ (3.8 cm) deep. The piece is in excellent condition without chips, flea bites or scratches. It retains the original Venini label and is signed on the base “Venini tw 86″. You may view our other items.
