Signed WEBB BURMESE Miniature Enamel Decorated Vase

Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a lovely example of Thomas Webb decorated Burmese Art Glass in a foliage pattern, c. This nice miniature vase has a satin finish with beautiful coloration in the glass with an enamel decorated design featuring ivy leaves and vines. Nice scalloped/crimped upper rim with round lower body. Made by Thomas Webb & Sons and is marked “Webb” on the base. M easures 2 3/4″ high, 3 3/8″ wide with a 2 7/8 top diameter. This Burmese miniature vase is in excellent Estate condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Mount Washington Glass Company originally produced Burmese glass as the creation of Frederick Shirley in the early 1880’s. The color was achieved by adding uranium oxide and gold to a batch of opal glass which created a yellow opaque glass that became salmon colored when reheated. Further reheating would turn the salmon back to yellow. This glass has a brilliant glow similar to Vaseline glass when exposed to a black light. In 1886, Mount Washington gave permission to Thomas Webb to produce Burmese glass in England and slightly later other major glass companies created their version of this popular and costly art glass. Expensive to produce, none of the companies produced Burmese glass in a large quantity. The glass is thin and fragile and has always been a desired addition to any Art Glass collection. Fenton produces a line of Burmese glass today, however, their product is much heavier, always signed and is never confused with the earlier hand made glass. Stunning English THOMAS WEBB & SONS Tri-Colored Cameo Vase ca. 1890 Signed 9.75T

Welcome To The Antique Cabinet. For your consideration is a stunning antique English. THOMAS WEBB & SONS. Tri-Colored Cameo Vase, circa 1890. This is a very nice & high-quality piece. The vase has a frosted, semitransparent yellow ground which is beautifully decorated with a spray of white cut to red cameo flowers. The back is decorated with two lovely signature Webb butterflies, the neck is decorated with a band of stylized bell flowers. It has a neatly polished pontil on the bottom side which is properly signed with the Thos. Webb & Sons Cameo factory circular mark. It measures a large 9.6. Tall, an impressive size for displaying. Upon close inspection, there is a small rub on the bottom edge of foot which appears to be original to the piece and a couple tiny flea nicks to the inside edge of top rim which are most likely from the factory polishing process. A fantastic example of early Thomas Webb Glass! – – – – -.
