1 (One) FOSTORIA DESIGNER COLLECTION Alexandrite OOAK Glass Vase. This is a Fostoria Glass Designer Collection OOAK vase in Alexandrite purple. The Alexandrite (neodymium) vase was created in 1977 in a limited run by James Carpenter. James Carpenter was furloughed from Steuben for a year starting in 1977 to create, the 28 pieces in 4 groups that were shown in the collection. The line proved very expensive to create. As a consequence fewer than 1200 pieces were created in total before the line was cut from production in 1978. A Wonderful Christmas, Wedding, Anniversary or Any Occasion Gift. This beautiful vase has a heavy panel cut crystal body in the gorgeous Alexandrite coloration. Alexandrite glass is a reactive glass that changes colors in different light. It has a beautiful violet color in natural light and changes to a distinct aquamarine blue under fluorescent light. Signed “Moser” on the base. Measures approximately 4 3/8 high with top diameter of 2 7/16 and octagonal shaped base measuring 1 5/16 each side panel measures measures 1 1/8 at the top.
