Harrach Peachblow enameled vase, signed with the company’s so-called propeller mark, 1880s, gold and platinum intertwined branches. Peachblow is not an official name but denotes the fading from pinkish-red to near white; the body of white opal glass partially layered with ruby red glass. And enamelled with raised gold branches, flowers and bugs, probably designed by Josef Petricek. The Harrach glass factory is one of the oldest glass houses still in operation today. Harrach was initially run by Count Harrach, and opened in 1712. It’s located in the town of Harrachov in Northern Bohemia, now in the Czech Republic. Propeller mark, which was erroneously attributed to Webb for years, is actually a simplified version of the three-plume shield belonging to the Harrach family, the mark of the Harrach glass factory used mainly during the Victorian era, from around 1890 to 1920.
