Antique ABP American Brilliant Period Cut Glass Vase Signed Hawkes

Antique CUT GLASS VASE. American Brilliant Period approx. Made by HAWKES (signed on the bottom). Weight 3 lbs 4 oz (2.35 kg). Height: 9 (22 cm). 4.5 (11.4 cm) diameter at the largest circumference. 3.25 (8.25 cm) diameter at the top opening. 3 (7.6 cm) diameter at the bottom. This is a crystal clear and gorgeous cut glass vase with a combination cut motifs of honeycomb bands on top and bottom and floral pattern body. The vase is polished to high clarity and reflectivity. It shows signs of age in a way of scuffs mainly on the bottom and no chips/flakes, cracks, cloudiness or roughness. It would benefit from a little cleaning, especially inside. There is a Hawkes acid etched trefoil/birds mark on the bottom (see the last 3 photos). Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions. It is unusual with 3 lobes that come in at the top. It has a yellow and purple backround with brown trees. It is signed “Daum Nancy”. Approx 6 3/4″ tall, 5 3/4″ lip diameter, 6 1/8 across the body at its widest point. Great condition, large and nice. Has old label on bottom. Uninsured items are at your risk. Antique Daum Nancy Art Glass Gilt Gui Vase, ca. 1895

Gui’ vase, around 1895. Heigh: 12.2 cm. Daum is one of the only crystal manufacturers toe employ the pâte de verre (glass paste) process for art glass and crystal sculptures, a technique in which crushed glass is packed into a refractory mould and then fused in a kiln. The Daum family worked at the beginning of the Art Nouveau era and created one of France’s most prominent glassworks. Established at the end of the 19th century, Daum’s renown was originally linked to the École de Nancy and the art of pâte-de-cristal, a major contributing factor in terms of its worldwide reputation. During the Universal Exhibition of 1900 Daum was awarded a’Grand Prix’ medal. Daum glass became more elaborate. Acid etching (by Jacques Grüber) was often combined with carving, enamelling, and engraving on a single piece of glass to produce creative glass masterpieces. The most complicated creations also featured applied glass elements, such as handles and ornamental motifs in naturalistic forms. The Daum brothers soon became a major force in the Art Nouveau movement, seriously rivalling Gallé, so much so that when Émile Gallé died in 1904 they became the leaders in the field of decorative glass. Daum display in Harrods London department store in 2007 In 1906 Daum revived pâte de verre (glass paste), an ancient Egyptian method of glass casting, developing the method so that by the 1930s Daum’s window panels used pâte de verre for richness instead of leaded or painted glass. Today Daum still uses this method to produce their pieces.

Pleased to offer this RARE ANTIQUE SIGNED QUEZAL ART DECO TIFFANY STEUBEN ERA PULLED FEATHER ART GLASS VASE IN MINT PERFECT CONDITION!!! This vase is fully signed and numbered on the base. The Gold Aurene Iridescence is Stunning and is worthy of any of the finest Steuben or Tiffany examples. Same can be said of the Exquisite Pulled Feather design expertly executed here by Quezal in this Museum worthy example of their finest work. This wonderful cabinet vase measures about Four and a half inches tall and Six inches across. The following history of Quezal I copied from The Met Online website. Two former employees of Louis Comfort Tiffany’s glassworks, Martin Bach and Thomas Johnson, founded the Quezal firm and named it after the brightly feathered Central American quetzal bird. Using the same method of manufacture practiced at the Tiffany factory, the company made artistic ware with pulled and applied decoration of lustrous iridescence. Quezal Iridescent Luminous Yellow Gold Vase Signed “Quezal” on base! Hand blown Quezal vase measures 6 7/8 tall! Great yellow iridescent luminous glaze which rivaled Tiffany Favrile glass in the early 20th century! In great condition with no chips or cracks, there are a couple minute absolute (in manufacture) craters in the glaze and possible pin head knick to glaze, tried shown in photos but not at all uncommon.
